Little Barrie @ Santo’s Party House

Last night, longtime British bent-blues trio, Little Barrie, made a fairly rare stop in NYC on the last date on their U.S. tour. Tomorrow they head back to London, and from there continue on a string of European dates through June.
Formed in 1999 in Nottingham, Little Barrie have been gradually honing their sound, touring extensively and introducing new influences over the years. They play a very English sort of rock ‘n’ roll with a bluesy garage influence stronger on some songs, with others getting a more psychedelic sound, but everything has a strutting guitar swagger anchored by a heavy rhythm section that would make Hendrix proud. This tour sees them ready to release possibly their strongest album to date, Shadow, on Tummy Touch Records.
Born Cages opened up. A New York-based rock band fronted by Vlad Holiday, they recently signed to Razor And Tie, and their catchy brand of indie rock has had them opening for such acts as Guns N’ Roses and Har Mar Superstar. While it was all a little bit indie-by-the-numbers, the crowd loved them enough.
